How should believers respond when anger threatens to take control—and how can we lovingly correct someone who is heading toward sin?

Pastor Wayne Wilson teaches from 1 Samuel 25, where David’s response to Nabal’s insult reveals the destructive power of uncontrolled anger. Although David had recently shown remarkable mercy toward Saul, he now allows wounded pride and a desire for revenge to lead him toward bloodshed. God graciously intervenes through Abigail—a discerning, courageous, and humble woman who prevents David from making a terrible mistake. Rather than attacking or humiliating him, Abigail respectfully appeals to David’s faith, character, and future calling. Her wise words awaken his conscience and turn him away from vengeance.

This message challenges us to examine our anger, receive correction with humility, and lovingly speak truth when others begin wandering from what they know is right. It also reminds us to leave justice in God’s hands: we do not need to avenge ourselves when we can trust the Lord to judge rightly.
