What does genuine faith look like when fear, danger, and opportunity put our character to the test?

Pastor Wayne Wilson continues David’s story in 1 Samuel 23–24. After seeing the devastating consequences of choices ruled by fear, David begins to demonstrate a stronger faith—seeking God’s direction, trusting His protection, and refusing to compromise his convictions.

Though Saul relentlessly hunts him, David courageously rescues Keilah, receives timely encouragement from Jonathan, and witnesses God’s providential protection. Then, when Saul is placed completely at his mercy, David chooses obedience over vengeance. He refuses to seize the kingdom through sin, trusting God to fulfill His promise in His own time.

This reminds us that an open door is not always divine permission—it may be a test of character. God’s providence must always be interpreted through His commands and character, never through our personal desires. Like David, we are called to trust God with the outcome while remaining faithful, merciful, and obedient.
